The man who enters by the gate is the shepherd of his sheep. The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice.
He knows your name, your thoughts, aspirations, hopes and needs. He precisely knows how to complete and fulfill them for you. He is the only way for you to ever know safety. He is the Door to LIFE for you, both now and forever. He is the One who died in your place, so that you might become truly alive. When the “wolf” came to the place of the “sheep,” He stood between you and the wolf, so that you do not need to know the agony of eternal death. There are others who are said to be some kind of “door” to life with God. But the reality is that all such are “thieves and robbers” (John 10:8), who actually want to “kill and destroy” (John 10:10).
Jesus Christ will truly give you “LIFE…” and you will “have it more abundantly” than you ever thought possible.
The Son of God, Jesus Christ, does something wonderful for His little ones, His “sheep:” He enables us to become able to really LISTEN for the first time. Jesus said that His sheep “know His voice” and they follow Him. He is speaking to you right now. His Cross reaches everywhere, into every time and place, even reaching as far as your need and mine. He knows your name. He knows your need. He is waiting for you right now.
Will you listen? Will you follow the Lord?
Lord, I “hear” Your call. I see that You gave Your life for me. Please forgive me for not listening in the past – let me listen now, and please open the Door for me. In Jesus Name. Amen.
I pray continually He open the eyes of my heart that I might see the daily washing of His fountain of gifts.
A heart spilling with gratitude...as Ann with out the fanciful "e" says.
I've longed for this week for a couple of months now. SPRING BREAK!!
Fun, Frivolity and Family.
I love long road trips with our feet on the dash and loud music booming from the speakers. Silly stories and anecdotes. Memories found of trips gone by.
This year it's filled with great friends, mountains, lots of snow and then a city I adore...SEATTLE.
I've always treasured family time, now with my oldest nearing 18 I savor every moment and count it as rich. She has grown into such a strong, funny, caring, smart, beautiful and most importantly Godly young woman. She is my hero.
The local news station was interviewing an 80-year-old lady because she had just gotten married for the fourth time. The interviewer asked her questions about her life, what it felt like to be marrying again at 80, and then about her new husband's occupation. "He's a funeral director," she answered.
He then asked about her first three husbands and what they did for a living. After reflecting briefly, she explained that she had first married a banker in her early 20s, then a circus ringmaster when in her 40s, and a preacher when in her 60s and, now in her 80s, a funeral director.
The interviewer looked at her, quite astonished, and asked why she had married four men with such diverse careers.
She smiled and explained, "I married one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, and four to go."
I look in disbelief. No word seems adequate to express a heart and soul mourning our brothers and sisters toll in Japan. My family, we clasp our hands to pray and intercede.
It's an odd concept to know that we are to pray, He directs us to.
But I feel so inadequate at the same time through those prayers. I realize the immensity of the travesty and my own fragility & humanity. But yet He tells us to..pray. He tells ME to pray...I realize it's Him. It's Him through my prayers... through our prayers!
Prayer is a powerful tool in the hands of a Christian because as James writes
“the effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.”
The idea is that when prayer is working, or doing its thing, it can accomplish much. This is because God has chosen to accomplish His will through our prayers. This truth can be mind boggling, but I think that we can grasp it by looking at another means that God uses to accomplish His will.
How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written:
"HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!
Who is it that saves a person? It is God of course. But here we see how God does it. God uses Christians who proclaim the good news about Jesus to call non-Christians to belief. It is not the Christian who saved the non-Christian, it is God. In the same way God gives us the privilege of working for His will through our prayers.
God uses our prayers to accomplish His will.
This is why our prayers are so powerful,
they have the power of God to accomplish His will behind them.
I find myself grappling with the age old questions:
Why is there suffering; why doesn't God always heal people when they ask?
Now right there, it shows that Jesus has a different priority, and that is our spiritual healing.
His real interest was in healing the soul.
He answers our prayers for our eternal best.
Sometimes that means physical healing. Even a miracle. Other times it means using what Satan meant to destroy us to, instead, cause us to grow stronger
We have to remember that we live in a sinful world in which an enemy seeks to destroy us. He'll do that through whatever means he can. Illness, cancer, pain, discouragement, doubt, busyness.
Yet God promises to work all things to good for His children. Like Joseph, we can say, "You meant this for evil, but God used it for good" Genesis 50:20
I think of a great spokesperson of God's true healing Joni Eareckson Tada. "If I had been granted a miraculous physical healing back when I was 17, I know I wouldn't be in a ministry serving other people with disabilities around the world."
Wife to a great God fearing man and Mom to two scrumptious children...um teens. I love to laugh and I love the Freedom I have in Christ. He is my every breath. Music runs in my veins and I am a closet writer. By profession I am a RN but there are oh so many things I want to accomplish before I run into His arms.
Summed up...Family, Coffee, girlfriends, loud music, movies and did I mention LAUGHTER!
